Enzymes and metalbolism F.3

my teacher said that
1. "metabolism is the sum of the chemical reactions take place in the
CELL"

she also said this
2. "enzymes can work OUTSIDE the cell, like in the digestive
system. "

here is the question:
what is the enzymes working on outside the cell if they are not working on the metabolism, becos according to my teacher, there
should be no metabolic reactions taking place outside the cell. Does that mean those enzymes that are working outside the cell are actually
working on some chemical reactions that are not called metabolism?

Enzyme can work in everywhere providing the enviroment is suitable for it. Many reactions can only be taken place with the presence of enzyme. It happens some reactions taking place in cells for metabolism. Like some green cleaners contain lipase which is an enzyme to digest fat or oil. This biological cleaner can easily cleans grease. However enzyme is complex organic cpd which is not thermal stable , when subject to high heat, will change the formulation that make enzyme functionless.
