What kind of sushi do you like?

The california roll and the tuna are both really nice,
My favourite are the ones coated in caviar.

If you are trying sushi for the first time, I would get one of those plates with mini sushis in all different flavours/ingredients so you can decide which ones you like best. Also they look adorable!!!

The ones with the freshest raw fish are the best - ie. hamachi, uni, amaebi, aji

But if it's your first time trying sushi, you might want to stay with cooked fish, ie. ebi (cooked sweet prawn), unagi (grilled eel) or raw fish that's easier for beginners, ie. salmon (it's just like eating a big piece of smoked salmon).

There are also the roll sushi you can try, California Roll, Cucumber Roll, etc.

California rolls are an abomination.

Best beginner sushi? A nice tuna roll. Tasty, tasty.

Try the soft shell crab maki roll with tobeko. SOOOOOO good. The salmon w/ spicy mayo is also good.

I actually like sashimi better - just sliced raw fish without the rice. For a novice though, you should try tuna. That's very mild, without a fishy taste or smell. And any of the rolls would be good; but salmon or salmon skin might be too fishy for you

and once i tried this sushi with shrimp tempura in it (i forget the name) but it was delicious!
