the sum of two number is 29 and their difference is 5. Find the answer?

let x and y be the number

eq.1 sum of two number is 29
x + y = 29

eq2 their difference is 5
x - y = 5

solving the two equations we have
x + y = 29
x - y = 5

2x = 34
x = 17 (answer)

from
x - y = 5
17 - 5 = y
y = 12 (answer)

so the numbers are
12 and 17 (answer)
