Where does Lo Mein come from?

The word Lo Mein is basically a dish, but I was wondering where does it come from originally?

Mein = Chinese for "noodles"
Lo = Chinese for "mixing"

Hence, lo mein is from China.

ever since the disaster at the lo mein mine in Hung Far Lo china the main source of lo mein in the world is a small deposit found in Kuala Lumpur. Lo mein miners are low paid and it is a dirty dangerous job. There are rumours of a lo mein strike in South Dakota but the government is keeping a lid on it, having determined it to be a strategic reserve.
You should show your respect to the lo mein miners who have given their lives for your dinner by slurping your noodles loudly to show your appreciation.

i believe i heard a documentary on this -low mein and chow mein were conjured up during the california gold rush and / or the railroad construction up the west coast , so i'll say ca. u.s.a.
