Can someone please solve this? I forgot what to do when i have a negative square root.

3x^2 + 5x = 6

Solve using Quadratic Formula.

Thanks in advance, and please explain. :{
更新1:

I know you have to use the i's but I don't know how to use it.

更新2:

The part I'm on right now is Square root of negative 47.

first you must set the equation equal to zero by subtracting 6 from both sides.

3x^2 + 5x = 6
- 6 - 6
____________
3x^2 + 5x - 6 = 0

the quadratic formula is x = - b +/- square root b^2 - 4ac all divided by 2a. this problem in the formula will be

x = -5 +/- square root 5^2 - 4(3)(-6)
________________________
2(3)

work the problem out and you get

x = -5 +/- square root 25 + 72
_____________________
6

x = -5 +/- square root 97
________________
6

you cannot reduce it any further, and because the number under the square root is not negative, you do not need to use the i representing imaginary numbers. I hope that you can see the math in the steps, but I probably only confused you more... sorry.

3x^2 + 5x = 6
3x^2 + 5x - 6 = 0
x = [-b ±√(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a

a = 3
b = 5
c = -6

x = [-5 ±√(25 + 72)]/6
x = [-5 ±√97]/6

∴ x = [-5 ±√97]/6

You must express the equation in the form ax² + bx + c = 0
3x^2 + 5x = 6
3x² + 5x − 6 = 0
So a = 3, b = 5, c = −6
You won't get a negative square root in this case.

3x^2+5x-6=0,x=[-5+ -(25+72)^1/2]/6=
=-5+9.84885/6 & -5-9.84885/6===>
x=0.808143 & -2.4748
