Is Bambi a girl or boy name?

I have a small female mix dog who has a slender face and big ears and eyes. I want to call her Bambi. I am afraid everyone will think she is a boy because of the movie Bambi.

I think that Bambi can be a girls name AND a boys name. Besides when you tell people her name you'll probably say something like this, "Her name is Bambi" And since you said "her" people will automatically know it's a girl, so don't worry about that.

It's a name that can be used both ways. It usually means gentle in general.

Bambi must mean something else in forest lore, because the famous deer of that name is definitely a boy.
