Well, aren't skinny ppl rude to fat ppl in general? I could understand that.

Usually, fat is looked upon as healthy in Chinese culture. So the rudeness may have had nothing to do with her being fat but rather with her not knowing how to speak Chinese.

She needs to ask herself why she never took time to learn speaking Chinese. Did she consider it uncool? If so, that would be a pretty sad excuse.

Asians are more likely to voice their internal thoughts than Americans. No American would tell you you're fat (which is the reason why so many people are obese, because they think it's okay and acceptable). But in Asia, it's more acceptable to comment on physical qualities.

It's also a disappointment that a racially Chinese girl (with parents who are fluent in Chinese) can't speak her native language.

Unfortunately chinese have little political correctness when it comes to body shape. Just being plump will give you a nickname like "Fatty".

nah, it's not her size that they are "looking down upon" but more her lack of knowledge of Chinese. I know most Chinese people feel sorry for non-China born Chinese, especially those who can't speak Chinese. They have a strong belief that if you're Chinese, you should at least know Chinese.

ABC's and FOB's often have problems anyway. Like the Wah Ching and Joe Boys in San Francisco. Maybe this person was just a jerk.Most ABC'c are thin just like those in the PRC.
