As acid rain comes across the limestone which has mainly calcium carbonate. The acid rain is dilute sulphuric acid. There is a nuetralization reaction taken place as : CaCO3 + H2SO4-------CaSO4 + CO2 + H2O As the part of the rock will change to water and carbon dioxide which lose away, also CaSO4 is also soluble in water. This is the whole process how acid rain corrodes limestone in nature.
