expand and simplify: (2x +1) (3x - 1)?
i think you multiply the second bracket by first but not 100 % sure, any help would be great and if you could show me how you did it so i no next time thanks

(2x+1)(3x-1)
=6x^2+3x-2x-1
=6x^2+x-1 answer//
(2x^2-3x+1)(x+4) x(2x^2-3x+1) +4(2x^2-3x+1) 2x^3 -3x^2 +x +8x^2 -12x +4 2x^3 -3x^2 +8x^2 +x -12x +4 2x^3 +5x^2 -11x +4
6 x ² - 2 x + 3 x - 1
6 x ² + x - 1
Use the FOIL method:
F First- 2x x 3x= 6x^2
O Outer- 2x x -1 = -2x
I Inner- 1 x 3x = 3x
L Last- 1 x -1= -1
Add your like terms
6x^2+x-1
2x (3x - 1) +1 (3x - 1)
=6x^2 - 2x + 3x - 1
=6x^2 -x - 1
(2x + 1)(3x - 1)
= 2x*3x + 1*3x - 2x*1 - 1*1
= 6x^2 + 3x - 2x - 1
= 6x^2 + x - 1
Multiplication can go both ways. Either second by first, or first by second. In your case, here's the two ways:
(2x +1) (3x - 1) = 2x (3x - 1) + 1 (3x - 1) = 6x^2 - 2x + 3x - 1 = 6x^2 + x - 1.
(2x +1) (3x - 1) = (2x +1) 3x + (2x +1) (-1) = 6x^2 + 3x - 2x - 1 = 6x^2 + x - 1.
參考: i'm a math geek. ^^
(2x +1) (3x - 1)= 6x^2-2x+3x-1=6x^2+x-1
= (2x+1)(3x-1)
= 2x(3x-1) +1(3x-1)
= 6x^2 - 2x + 3x - 1
= 6x^2 + x - 1
(2x +1) (3x - 1) = (2x) (3x - 1) +(1) (3x - 1) = 6x^2 - 2x + 3x -1 = 6 x^2 + x -1
