How to simplify 4r^-3 multiply 2r^2?

Please help me simplify the following expression. Can you please show your work so I can understand how to do this. The ^-3 and ^2 are exponents.

(4r^-3)(2r^2)
= (4)(2)(r^-3)(r^2)
= 8[r^(-3 + 2)]
= 8r^-1
= 8(1/r)
= 8/r

Simply multiply the coefficients and add the indices to get

8r^-1 which is 8/r
