People who enjoy having sex with different partners do not want a steady relationship. They are looking for the pleasure that comes from the partner which can break the partner's heart (unless she/he is a ****). Doing it safe is obviously better, but the main reason people like sex with different partners is because different partners have a different sexual ability, difference in the tightness of the vagina, and experience. But having sex with different partners no matter how safe can get you STDs. Keep that in mind!

Different people have different er techniques and some people like the excitment of different people. Some people can't/won't commit to a single person and others don't have much choice.

Having sex with lots of different people always carries risks, condoms etc aren't 100% effective and even then certain conditions can be passed on through kissing eg if you can an open ulcer and kiss someone with a cut lip/tonge gum who has HIV they can pass it onto you. You cna minise risks but can't irradicate them completely.

I'd be very warey of even dating someone who has had a lot of sexual partners.

Well, are you talking about having threesomes, or just each of you sleeping around? It's most likely a bad idea either way. There can be jealousy and hurt feelings with threesomes and there's always the possibility of STD's no matter how safe you think you are. It's fine to share your fantasies about it with eachother but I would not recommend actually doing it.
