Present tense:

Present tense is things that you do regularly, every certain time or it is a permanent issue .

Eg. I am a boy (permanent issue)
He washes dishes (He does this regularly or at a certain time)

Past tense:

Past tense is what you use to describe things that just or have already passed for a certain time.

You use to when:

.Past actions which happened on after the other.

Eg. She sealed the letter, put (put can be a past tense) a stamp on it and posted it.

Eg. She called an hour ago (When? an hour ago)

.Action which happened at a definite past time although the time is not mentioned. This action is not connected with the present.

EG. Shakespeare wrote a lot of plays. (Shakespeare is not dead; he won't write again -period of time now finished)
