Is an alkane substitution reaction (to produce haloalkane)
a redox reaction??? if so, what are the oxidizing and reducing agents?? change in oxidation number???

Yes, it is a redox. The halogen is act as a oxidizing agent and the alkane is a reducing agent. The 2 atoms of halogen decrease from 0 to - and the carbon atom involved in each substitution reaction is increased by 2
