Firstly we have to note how to distinguish from mixtures(混合物) and compounds(化合物):
Mixtures:
.Make up with 2 elements or more
eg. Cl2 (2 Chlorines)
.Easily to be broken down/Easily to separate them
.Mixtures is when elements MIX together but don't have a CHEMICAL REACTION
-----------
Compounds:
.Make up with 2 different elements or more/Two or more different elements bond together
eg. H2O (2 Hydrogens and 1 Oxygen)
CuSO4 (1 Copper 1 Sulphur 4 Oxygens)
.Chemical reaction occurs
.Nearly impossible to separate them/Nearly impossible to break them down
---------------------
.Mixtures don't have a fixed proportion. Since they are just mixed up, 1 element can join up to 10 elements or maybe 2 elements can join up to 11 elements.
.Compounds have a fixed proportion as shown on their chemical symbols.

Mixtures are just mixing together without a chemical reaction, thus no new substance is formed.
Compound is a newly formed substance where two elements bond together, with a chemical reaction to form a compound.
