Do you USA NHL players need work visas to play on the Maple Leafs? ?

So like if you play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, or Montreal Canadiens, or Vancouver Canucks, or Edmonton Oilers, or Calgary Flames for an NHL season, you can become a permanent resident?

And then what if you become a free agent, wouldn't there be pressure on the part of the NHL player to avoid contracts with USA NHL teams to get permanent residency?

This would be funny: A key new player for the Leafs has been refused entry to Canada! He starts FIGHTING IT OUT with the border patrol. Penalty 60-minute major for fighting! Rangers have 60 minutes Power Play. But it wouldn't work like that, would it?

Yes, it's just like any Americans wanting to work in Canada, you'll need a Canadian working visa.
