4x/y times y+1/x

4x/y * (y + 1)/x
= 4x(y + 1)/xy
= 4(y + 1)/y
= (4y + 4)/y
= 4y/y + 4/y
= 4 + 4/y

1st interpretation:
= (4x/y)([y + 1]/x)
= ([4x/x]/y)([y + 1]/[x/x])
= 4/y(y + 1)
= (4[y + 1])/y

Answer: (4[y + 1])/y OR (4y + 4)/y

2nd interpretation:
= (4x/y)(y + 1/x)
= 4xy/y + 4x/xy
= 4x + 4/y
= 4xy/y + 4/y
= (4[xy + 1])/y

Answer: (4[xy + 1])/y OR 4x + 4/y OR 4(x + 1/y)

The parenthesis are important:

(4x/y) * (y+(1/x)) = 4(xy+1)/y

Your problem may be different due to how you typed it in.

There are/is no solution to this. You can simplify the expression, as others have demonstrated. What was the original requirement?

numerator: 4x(y+1)=4xy+4x
denominator: x(y)=xy
simplify:4xy/xy+4x/xy
4+4/y

4xy/y + 4x/xy
