2x-3(x+4)=-5
2x-3x-12=-5
-x=-5+12
-x=7 or -7 answer @(^_^)@

2x-3x-12=-5
-x=7

x=-7

2x - 3(x + 4) = - 5
2x - 3x - 12 = - 5
x = - 7

Answer: x = - 7

Proof (plug x with - 7 in the original equation):
2(- 7) - 3(- 7 + 4) = - 5
- 14 - 3(- 3) = - 5
- 14 + 9 = - 5
- 5 = - 5
2008-12-30 11:39 pm
2x-3x-12+5=0
-x=7

So x = -7
2008-12-30 11:14 pm
2x - 3(x + 4) = -5
2x - 3x - 12 = -5
x = -7.
2008-12-30 5:24 pm
2x - 3(x + 4) = -5
2x - 3x - 12 = -5
-x = -5 + 12
-x = 7
x = 7/-1
x = -7
2008-12-30 3:01 pm
2x - 3(x + 4) = - 5

2x - 3x + 12 = -5
- x + 12 = - 5
- x = - 5 - 12
- x = -17
x = 17

the answer is x= -7

2x-3(x+4)=-5 distribute the -3 with (x+4)
2x-3x-12=-5 combine like terms
-1x-12=-5 add 12 to both side
-1x=7 divide by -1 to get rid of the negative in front of the x
x=-7

Lets use BEDMAS to solve this question. According to BEDMAS, we should multiply -3 by (x+4).
Once we do this we get:
2x - 3x - 12 = -5
Lets keep x on one side and move the numbers to the other by adding 12 to both sides. By doing this the question still remains true.
2x - 3x -12 +12 = -5 +12
-1x = 7
We now know the value of -x. To find the value of x, lets divide both sides by -1.
-1x/-1 = 7/-1
x = 7

x = -7/2 or x = 1

i checked x = 1 and it's correct. :D
