silicon can form a giant covalent structure. it is because silicon has four valent electrons and form with others atom to form a giant structure such as itself, perfectly non-polar, stable, covalent bond with four other Silicon atoms, so theoretically the structure could go on for ever

硅本身可以以巨型共價結構存在~~但鍵長長左~~極化性變弱
搞到無咁穩定~~所以多數唔會純硅

就咁silicon咩structure都唔係喎
SiO2先至係giant covalent structure
因為silicon只係元素而冇form compound 又唔係金屬
不過同一group 的碳就唔同 佢自己碳原子間可以以共價鍵連接 所以係giant covalent structure (石墨)
仲有一點值得一提
SiC 呢種化合物都係giant covalent structure(相似於鑽石結構)
