√(1/4) = ± (1/2)

There is really very little to explain apart from the fact that 2 x 2 = 4 and (-2) x (-2) = 4

Sometimes it may be that only the + ve square root is specified , in which case :-

√(1/4) = 1/2

take the same root of the numerator and the denominator.
square root of 1 is +/- 1
square root of 4 is +/- 2
take all possible combinations of the first over the second to get the answer
+/- 1/2

√(1/4) = (√1)/(√4) = 1/2

+-1/2

√¼ = (√1)/(√4)

√1 = ± 1
√4 = ± 2

So the square root of ¼ =

± ½

The square root of ¼ is positive ½.
If x = √¼, then x = ½.
If x = −√¼, then x = -½.
If x² = ¼, then x² - ¼ = 0
x² - (½)² = 0
(x - ½)(x + ½) = 0
x - ½ = 0 or x + ½ = 0
x = ±½.

The square root of 4 is +2 or -2.
So the square root of 1/4 is +1/2 or -1/2.

±√(1/4)
= ±√(1/2 * 1/2)
= ±1/2 (±0.5)

1/4 is equivalent to 0.25.

If you put 0.25 in a calculator you get the square root as: 0.5 or 1/2

Easy !

calculators are your friend

but, if no dice on the calc, just this of it backwards
the root of 4 is 2 right? 2*2=4 so root4=2

so what times itself is 1/4 (remember that fractions get smaller not bigger as you times them by itself) and the answer would be +/-1/2
