p(x)=7x-3
divide x on both sides
p=7-3
p=4
i don't get it but id like to know how to get to those answers

p(5) = 7(5) - 3
= 32
p(-1) = 7(-1) - 3
= -10

plug in 5 and -1..

p(5)=7(5)-3 = 32

p(5)= 32

p(-1)= 7(-1)-3 = -10

p(-1)= -10

plug in 5 for x on the right side and that gives you the function p(x) when x = 5, do the same for -1 sir.

Put 5 in for x in the equation, and -1 in for the equation and solve it. So 32 and -10.

P(5) = 35 - 3 = 32

P(-1) = - 7 - 3 = - 10
2008-12-28 5:17 am
p(5)
This means plug in 5 for every x:
p(5)=7(5)-3
=35-3
=32
So p(5)=32

p(-1)
Now plug in -1 every time you see x
p(-1)=7(-1)-3
=-7-3
=-10
So p(-1) = -10

Hope this helps!!!! :)

p (x) means p is a function (an equation of a straight line or a curve) in x. That means you'll find x's being used to define p.

For instance, I can call a function f, and define it terms of a variable, v.

Then f(v) = 7v - 3. Get it?

So p (5) in this case means p(x) = p(5)... i.e. x = 5. So plug in x = 5 in 7x - 3 to get the value of p(x).

When x = 5, p(x) = 7x - 3 = 7 * 5 - 3 = 35 - 3 = 32.

p(-1) means x = -1. So when x = -1, p (x) = 7x - 3 = 7 * -1 - 3 = -7 - 3 = -10.

I hope that helps. :)

plug in the number inside the parentheses wherever you see an x

p(-1) = 7(-1) - 3 = -7 - 3 = -10

I think you can handle the other one.

dat just means plug in those numbers where 'x' is..
so you'll have 2 answers.
it will b
7(5)-3 & 7(-1)-3
