The chinese restaurant got caught killing pidgeons and using them in the food! What can we do?

So what are you folks trying to tell Johnny? That it is ok to serve rats in the restaurant business? Wings or not I'd be unhappy, for one thing if they violate one law what other ones will they violate? I call the health dept when ever I have any questions about a restaurant and they are more than happy to talk. I went to a chinese restaurant that had a buffet once & my husband like buffets and liked that one in particular so we went and after eating I went to the bathroom and I was so disgusted I almost puked. It looked like that place had not been cleaned in ages and that it was covered from floor to ceiling in ****, and this was the ladies room no less. I kept telling him I do not want to go back to that place, I came home and burned my clothes last time we went there. He kept bugging me so i told him I'd call the health dept and if they got a pass I'd go. They got the guy from that area and he laughed when I told him the story, and said no I will not give them a pass, they are the worst place in town. But my point is if one thing is wrong, or they break one rule, they will break another, and won't clean another and those things effect our health.

So I would be MAD. You could try to find a lawyer who would take the case it is illegal, food labeling? A menu has to be correct for the same reason we have food labels and they have to be correct. How likely is it that the **** heads in the bakery would get a pass for putting the unnecessary walnuts in the brownies and not labeling them if some one who is allergic to them eats said brownies with out being correctly labeled. Same for certain kinds of fish, why not squab. That aside, it is still not legal so what else do they do that they are not supposed to do. You can get health dept inspection reports and post them on the windows. Or like someone else said picket, or call the news.

I understand your anger - most common rock pigeons in cities are known to carry some unpleasant things, and somehow I doubt that the restaurant in question vetted pigeons for disease. Not only did the chef put you at risk, but betrayed your trust. When we have people cook for us, we put in their hands something that can easily harm us if not made correctly - food.

What can you do? I wouldn't try and break the law, but if his restaurant isn't immediately closed, stand outside and warn customers entering. You might consider contacting the local newspapers, and have him 'named and shamed'.

Because cat and dog meat really is eaten the way we eat chicken or beef in a lot of Asian countries. I have never heard of Chinese people doing it, but it is common in Vietnam. Where I live we have lots of Chinese restaurants that are actually owned by Vietnamese people, not Chinese people, and some of them have been busted for this before. After that happens, they lose all their business, close up, then reopen under "new management".

maybe you should stick to Panda Express or any of those Americanized Chinese chain fast food places. Pigeons/Squabs are very normal dishes in many cuisines, including Chinese and French.

What are you going to do next? Go find some French restaurant and protest there as well for them serving people squabs and goose liver (fois gras)?

Pigeons are otherwise known as squab and they are a perfectly normal item found in many french restaurants. What exactly is your problem. As long as they weren't decorated war veterans...

If you are sure and this is not just a story then you all need to make
some signs and Picket out by the place. Check with the city hall for
a permit or ask if you would violate the laws. You all ready ate pigeon
so jail food next is not on your list is it.
Let the legal process work it self through then your problems will be
over. I don't eat Chinese food because I have heard many story's
something like this !

First start by telling all of us where it is & a name of the place ? I travel lot's in the Mid-West & eat Chinese when it suites my taste .How was it discoverd it was happening ?

Be grateful he is keeping the pigeon population down a little. There's a reason they are known as 'rats with wings'.

What do you mean "got caught?" Is it illegal or something? Or was he saying it was something else and serving pigeon instead? Well, if you really want to "get his goat," find out where he keeps it, and have a neighborhood barbecued goat roast!
