聖誕快樂: Merry Christmas or Happy Christmas
Typically, a greeting consists of the word "Happy" followed by the holiday, such as "Happy New Year", although the phrase "Merry Christmas" is a notable exception because it was the first Christmas greeting used:
The first known usage of any Christmastime greeting, "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" was in an informal letter written by an English admiral in 1699. The same phrase appeared in the first Christmas card, in England in 1843, in the popular secular carol "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."and then figured prominently in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in 1843.
Happy Christmas is also used in UK and Ireland, but not as common as "Merry Christmas".
Other differences between "Happy Christmas" and "Merry Christmas":
"Merry Christmas" is the traditionally used greeting for those from America and the UK, composed of merry (jolly, happy) and Christmas (Old English: Cristes msse, for Christ's Mass).
"Happy Christmas"is an equivalent that is also commonly used in the United Kingdom and Ireland. - Therefore some people do say "Happy Christmas".
The reason why you have never heard of "Happy Christmas" may be that you are in Hong Kong.
Note: These greeting still remains popular among countries with large Christian populations such as the United States. It also remains popular in non-Christian areas such as the People's Republic of China and Japan, where Christmas is still widely celebrated due to Western influences

Hi,
In some parts of the U.K, people do say " Happy Christmas"( I grew up there) , but
more people around the world say" Merry Xmas".
In some Spanish-speaking countries, they say " Happy Holidays".
I guess it doesn't matter how we greet people at X'mas, as long as
we will have a good time during this cool festival.
In a word, people are so used to saying what you have mentioned .Perhaps folks all say " Happy Birthday" to birthday boys and girls, so they just want to sound different by saying" Merry Xmas".
O_O
Anyway Merry Xmas or Happy Xmas to you.

Bye
