Hi,

Here we need to notice that we can subtract 8/v from both sides of the equation to get:

-7/v = -1/11

Now, at this point, we can multiply both sides by -11 to get:

77/v = 1

Next, multiply both sides by 'v' to get:

77 = v <==== FINAL ANSWER

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

1/v = 8/v - 1/v
1/v = 7/v
7v = v IS FALSE

Answer: the expression can hardly be called an equation because the sides are not equal.

Maybe it should be presented as follows:
1/v = (8/[v - 1])/v
v/v = 8/(v - 1)
1 = 8/(v - 1)
v - 1 = 8
v = 9

Answer: v = 9

Proof:
1/9 = (8/[9 - 1])/9
1/9 = (8/8)/9
1/9 = 1/9

must be shown , i could wager , as :- v / ( v + 11 ) + a million / (v - 19 ) = a million v ( v - 19 ) + ( v + 11 ) = ( v + 11 ) ( v - 19 ) v^2 - 19 v + v + 11 = v^2 - 8 v - 209 - 18 v + 11 = - 8 v - 209 220 = 10 v v = 22

1/v=8/v-1/11
1 = 8 - v/11
11 = 88 -v
v = 88 - 11
v = 77
2008-12-22 6:09 am
1/v = 8/v - 1/11
1/v - 8/v = -1/11
-7/v = -1/11
v = -7/(-1/11)
v = -7(-11/1)
v = 77
2008-12-22 3:49 am
1/v = (8/v) - 1/11
(1/v) - (8/v) = -1/11
-7/v = -1/11 [Cross-multiply]
-v = -7(11)
v = 77

Verify the answer:
1/v = 8/v - 1/11
1/77 = (8/77) - (1/11)
1/77 = (8/77) - (7/77)
1/77 = 1/77

1)
since v not zero
multiply both sides by v
1 = 8 - v/11
multiply both sides by 11
11 = 88 - v
v = 88 - 11
v = 77

OR
2)
1/v=8/v-1/11
0 = 8/v - 1/v - 1/11
1/11 = 7/v
cross multiply
v = 77

1/v = 8/v - 1/11
11 = 88 - v
v = 77

1/v=8/v-1/11
1/11 = 7/v
cross multiply:
v = 77
