When hydrogen chloride gas is breathed into human’s respiratory system, the will be dissolved to form hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is a strong acid, which is corrosive to human’s respiratory system.
HCl(g) + aq → H+(aq) + Cl-(aq)
