The first day of the first month is January 26, 2009
The first day of the year of Ox is February 4.
Yes, it's different. The year of the Ox doesn't come in until Feb 4. Ie. if a baby is born on January 31, 2009, she's still considered born in the year of the Rat.

i believe Chinese new year ends up on the 25th of January. just to make sure you know, each year Chinese new year ends up on a new date. however, Chinese new year always falls on January or February, it will never reach March. Oh yeah and next year will be the year of the ox just thought you might want to know.

depends on the lunar calendar. chinese new year is the first day of lunar calendar, the date is different every year in western calendar. however, it is mostly in the beginning of the year, february or march.
2009's chinese new year will be earlier, around the end of january 2009
