Simplifying:
= 6(4[y - 5] + 18) - (3[3y - 3] + 2)
= 6(4y - 20 + 18) - (9y - 9 + 2)
= 6(4y - 2) - (9y - 7)
= 24y - 12 - 9y + 7
= 15y - 5
= 5(3y - 1)

Answer: 15y - 5 OR 5(3y - 1)

Solving for y:
15y - 5 = 0
15y = 5
y = 1/3

Answer: y = 1/3

Proof:
6(4[1/3 - 5] + 18) - (3[3{1/3} - 3] + 2) = 0
6(4[1/3 - 15/3] + 18) - (3[1 - 3] + 2) = 0
6(4[- 14/3] + 18) - (3[- 2] + 2]) = 0
6(- 56/3 + 54/3) - (- 6 + 2) = 0
6(- 2/3) - (- 4) = 0
- 4 + 4 = 0
0 = 0

6 { (4y - 2) - 9y + 11 }

6 { 9 - 5y }

54 - 30 y

6{[4(y - 5) + 18] - [3(3y - 3) + 2]}
= 6{4(y - 5) + 18 - 3(3y - 3) - 2}
= 6{4*y - 4*5 + 18 - 3*3y + 3*3 - 2}
= 6{4y - 20 + 18 - 9y + 9 - 2}
= 6{4y - 2 - 9y + 7}
= 6{4y - 9y - 2 + 7}
= 6{-5y + 5}
= 6*-5y + 6*5
= -30y + 30
= -30(y - 1)

simplify (multiply inside the []'s first)
6((4y-20+18)-(9y-9+2))
6(4y-20+18-9y+9-2)
24y-120+108-56y+56-12
-32y+32
-32y=-32
y=1

First expand the equation and remember your rules for brackets. ( ) come before [ ], and [ ] come before { }
6{[4y - 20 + 18] - [9y - 9 +2]}
6{ [4y -2] - [9y - 7]}
6{4y - 2 - 9y + 7}
6{-5y + 5}
-30y + 30

If your equation is = 0, then y = 1

6{[4(y-5) + 18] - [3(3y-3) + 2]}
6{[4y - 20 + 18] - [9y - 9 + 2]}
6{[4y - 2] - [9y - 7]}
6{4y - 2 - 9y + 7}
6{-5y + 5}
-30y + 30

1. Start by simplifying the equations in the brackets and parentheses by distributing the 4 to the (y-5) and the 3 to the (3y-3).
2. You should get 6[(4y-20+18)-(9y-9+2)]
3. Simplify the things in the new brackets.
4. You should get 6[(4y-2)-(9y-7)]
5. Simplify more to get: 6[-5y+5]
6. Simplify even more to finally get: -30y+30 - this is the answer if the question is only asking you to simplify
7. Assuming (since you did not mention what the entire original equation should equal to), y should equal 1, assuming that the entire original equation equals 0.
8. If it does not, use the equation -30y+30 = n, if n is the unknown number that the entire equation equals (it should be given).
9. Solve for y with whichever number equals n.
