Christmas is a time nowaday we celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus who came to the world more than 2000 years ago.
We celebrate because Jesus brings Hope, Peace, Love and Joy.
Jeuse brings Hope because He is the fulfillments of God's promises and the fulfillments of the prophecies of the OT.
Jesus is the fulfilment of ISaiah 9:7 -- For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jesus is our hope in time of confusion, in times of challenge, in changing time and in times of conflict. Jesus's gift of hope allows us to 'bear up under' pain or disappointment. Since Jesus is present in our lives, we can experience hope in all situation.
Jesus brings peace since He comes to deliver us from sin. He delievers us form our own internal conflicts (pls refer to Rom 7:14-25a). When inside us is at war, we cannot live in peace with others. Right relationship with others depended on right relationship with God. Jesus died on the cross so that man can reconcile with God. Men is put in right relationship with God. Biblical peace is not just an absence of conflict. It is peace in the midst of conflict. (Pls refer to John 14:25-27)
Jesus brings Love. Jesus revealed how much God loves us. Jesus paid our debts of sin. While we are still sinners, Christ died for us. His love reaches out to us to draw us out of darkness and into the light. He accept us just as we are.
Jesus brings Joy. Joy in the midst of suffering. Jesus is the high priest . Heb4:15-16For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Jesus also calls us to serve God. How great is the Joy!
Focus of Christmas is 'JESUS'.
