First, my family follows one Chinese New Year tradition to avoid badluck. My family would stay at home on the third day of the New Year. My father have had a very bad experience before which made my family strongly believe in such tradition. In that particularChinese New Year, my father had a close friend who came from Taiwan tovisit him. They went out to have a lunch one day. After that, myfather felt very sick at night. He told us he had a very bad stomachache and we saw his lips turned blue. We then rushed himto the hospital. After spending a night in the hospital,the doctor told us he had found nothing wrong with my fatherand he might have just eaten something wrong. However, my family did not believe the reason that the doctor told us. Later, we got acall from my father's Taiwanese friend. He told us that he felt sick at that nighttoo but he was not as bad as my father. Surprisingly, my family realized that the day was the third day of theNew Year. As a result, the bad experience made my family believe inthis Chinese New Year tradition, i.e. staying home on third day ofthe New Year.

Second, my family has decided only eating vegetarian foods on thefourth day of the New Year because they want to eat much healthierduring the Chinese New Year. It was my mother who raised this idea. My mother used to make a lot of yummy foods to celebrate the Chinese NewYear but most of the foods are deep fired and low in fibers.Therefore, she decided only making vegetarian dishes on the fourth dayof the New Year. My mother wants to balance our diet during theholiday, she would only make the dishes such as steam vegetable orvegetable soup on the fourth day of the New Year. And because of such special tradition, my family eats much healthier during theChinese New Year.

第二句的英語文法就錯了。英語的 present participle 'have had'
與 simple past tense 'made'是不協調的。
如果全用 simple past tense，則句子變成 my father had…before, which made…不是更好嗎？
