Why do products from China emit strong petroleum Oders?

I purchase a screen door from homedepot and it smelled pretty bad for a few weeks (smelled like spray paint). Purchase a book made in china and the book emitted strong smell petrolium. What ever they used for ink was still emitting gases. Does the EPA regulate VOCs from products?? thanks

Also purchase a costume and the fumes were pretty bad, had to let it air out 3 wks outside.

or maybe you should ask why Home Depot is importing and selling screen door that smells like spray paint.

I know it's bad that many of the products made in China have been recalled or found to contain unhealthy levels of lead or other chemicals, but the problem doesn't just lie with Chinese factories, but also the US companies who purchase these products from the Chinese factories, import them into US and sell them to their customers. **** hits the fan and everyone start pointing fingers at the Chinese factories, but the fact is the US companies and government should also be held responsible and accountable, too- they are the ones ultimately responsible for the products and their customers' (citizen's) interest.

Is it becoz it was ordered that way?

I know there have been several news cases of lead in the paint of many recent products imported from China.
I'll do more research, good question!

You know what that happens in all products, it doesnt matter if its made in USA, Mexico or made in China. If its made of plastic it going to have a plastic smell
