I get a assignment question need to solve immidently.
Hope someone can help. Thanks a lot!
The question as following:

Explain the architectural design characteristics for using normal concrete and pre-stressed concrete in different types of buildings? State the advantages of using it.

Hope can provide detail answers or or reference website.
Thanks!

Prestress concrete is a special type of structural form which is suitable for long span structure but very expensive, difficult and time-consuming in construction. Therefore, it usually used in luxary projects such as casino and exhibition hall, etc. For normal building, using normal concrete is the best choice. Prestress concrete is also commonly used in civil works such as bridges.
Advantage of common concrete: cheap, easy to construction and design, less pre-construction co-ordination
Advantages of pre-stressed concrete:good for long span structure, good for structure with headroom limit, prevent deflection and crack for structure

i try to answer the second part of your question.

advantages of using pre-stressed concrete
1. when normal concrete is under loadings, cracking is presented. In order to avoid cracking, it is to cancel out tension in concrete since concrete is weak at tension but good at compression. It is known tthat the resulting stress in pre-stressed concrete is compression and tension is cancelled out.

2. The depth of concrete would be reduced when using prestressed concrete. So size of elements is reduced. Dead load transfered to the foundation is reduced, foundation cost is reduced. Also, reducing size means that it is a reduce in amount of concrete, so material cost is also reduced.

3. Prestressed concrete can be used in a mass production.
