umm ok if u could just factor this equation below and explain HOW you got the answer. i just need an example, then i can figure out how to do the rest myself. =) thanks BUNCHESSS

x^12 - y^15

P.S. the ^ stands for exponent so x^12 is x to the twelfth power

umm yeah there was no equation sign. that is exactly what it reads on my homework. you're supposed to "factor completely." =P

a^3 - b^3 = (a - b)(a^2 + ab + b^2)

x^12 - y^15
= (x^4)^3 - (y^5)^3
= [x^4 - y^5][(x^4)^2 + x^4y^5 + (y^5)^2]
= [x^4 - y^5][x^8 + x^4y^5 + y^10]

so y^15 is equal to y^12 + y^3

now x^12 - (y^12 + y^3) is equal to x^12-Y^12 + y^3
x^12-Y^12 is equal to (x^6-y^6)(x^6+Y^6)
X^6-Y^6 is equal to (X^3-y^3)(x^3+y^3)

so it is (X^3-Y^3)(x^3+y^3)(x^6+Y^6)+y^3
now factor Y^3 on both sides
so
(X^3-1)(x^3+y^3)(x^6+Y^6)+1 is more likely to be answer

yo if there is no equal sign its not an equation
(x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x)(y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y*y)
