percent is literally "per hundred". You have 22 tests not 100 therefore you must divide 21 by 22 (to get how many out of 1 tests you have correct) and multiply that result by 100 (to give you how many out of 100)

21/22 x 100%
= 2100/22 %
= 1050/11 %
= 95 5/11 %

you can solve this problem by using this formula

no. of correct ans./ total items (times) 100%

so,


(21/22)*100%=95.454%


the percentage of correct answer is 95.454%...

When you do long division, the answer is actually the percent that one number is of the other

So, do the long division of 21 into 22, the answer will start .9, which is 90%


Or, let a calculator do the work: 21/22 = ? then move the decimal point two places to the right to turn in into percent.

If you are given a percentage question, many people find them difficult to do. The best way to work out the method for a question like this is to think of a simple example and do it in your head, and then work out what the formula is from that.

So for instance, if you are asked "what is 5 as a percentage of 10" then without doing any working out you just know that the answer is 50%. Then just work out the method to get fifty percent and you realise it is: the new figure divided by the old figure, times 100

Which is in other words: 5/10 * 100 which of course is 50% Now just apply the same formula to any questions with more obscure percentages to work out.
