Ok, so the 4th dimension is time, what's the 5th?, 6th? ...etc.?

I've heard they exist, but what do they represent?
How are they connected to the other dimensions, because time is, according to einstein, analog to space, spacetime.
So is time actually a seperate dimension??

Please enlighten me :-)

You could take a ruler and find many dimensions on a chair. Each dimension (you are referring to) is part of an equation used in an attempt to describe complex nature and may not have a physical significance (as we know 3D + Time). A silly example might be that each electron is spherical and divided up into latitudes and longitudes (that we can never see). Real example should help describe the connected nature of time, space, energy, matter and gravity, etc.

A dimension is a line in a coordinate system. You locate points on a chart by using two different numbers, as when you want to locate a place through latitude and longitude. That's why we say space consists of three dimensions: length, width, and height. Time can also be represented in a coordinate system, but I guess this is just a metaphorical way of speaking.

Of course, you could theoretically add 5, 6, 7, 8, and so on, dimensions, but they are not visible (they are a theoretical construct, they may not even exist, although I'm not sure of that).

You can't separate time from space, one can't exist without the other.
A single space-time pulse can exist then two more dimensions can be added to give us the universe we experience but a fifth dimension or beyond is strictly a theoretical situation that can't exist in reality.

dimensions just simply represent the states in which matter or "things" currently reside in.
This website will explain how dimensions build up.

Time isn't technically a seperate dimension, it's integrated into our space dimension; just like how lower dimensions add up to higher dimensions. We just say we live in 3 + 1 dimension because we can't see time, we can only merely use tools to indicate time exists.
