These days either you use a SKYPE phone for free (set up account). Or buy a $5 phone card online through http://www.stanacard.com/?ref=274838 You'll actually get $10 credit, calling within US is 2cents/min; no connection charges; additional charges do need for payphone. Hope this helps

hi, i also live in usa, here is my experience.
1. if u have pc, use the 2b.com.hk, it is a internet phone, u can use ur pc to call any HK landline or HK cellphone unlimit minutes. just need to pay a monthly fee, now is around HK$160 per month.
2. if u want to use ur USA phone calling HK any phone/lines, u can buy a prepaid calling IDD card from chinatown, it is only US$8 for 500 mins. depending the charges from the calling card. I used the super-china 2 or 3.

Use YahooIM/MSN to call HK PC (free)
