Chinese and Japanese- what is an easy thing I can bake at home to bring to work?

To be specific, my superiors are Taiwanese, Chinese, and Japanese. I am not (i am mex-ecuadorian). I am broke this Christmas and was wondering if there is a type of dessert dish that is generally liked by Asians that I can make to bring to work on the last day before xmas holiday? Last year I made cookies but I think making the effort to make something would mean more- if it was chinese or japanese???? i don't really know how to state the question so please don't get offended.

p.s. i know u can make fun of me for being broke but times are hard!

put it this way- there are only 7 of us and yes, they all like the same food IN THIS OFFICE - i really don't assume it is this way outside of my office, but everybody here has known each other for 15 plus years (except me) so they all eat together, hang together, etc. etc... DAMN IT CAN A CHINESE OR JAPANESE PERSON JUST GIVE SOME SUGGESTIONS? JEEZUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm just going to rephrase my question- thanks for the spongecake recipe :)

try the Japanese cheesecake (http://www.recipezaar.com/Japanese-Cheesecake-90032)

It's simple and light and it's a dessert you can bake.

Most Chinese desserts are soup-based and it'll be too messy to bring from home to work. Your best bet would be Japanese-style desserts and cheesecake is the easiest.

I agree with the person above. Also, not much of Asian cuisine or dessert is baked. In addition, your Japanese boss may not like Chinese food or vice versa, you can't just assume they'll all like it cause it's Asian.

Heres a recipe though for Chinese sponge cake. http://chinesefood.about.com/od/dessertscake/r/spongecake.htm

I think that you should make something of mexican or eduadorian decent.. I think they would appreciate that more if you gave them a taste of your favorites instead of trying to recreate theirs.
