1 +11 is one plus eleven.
11-1 is eleven minus one.

ok if u hav 1 apple and u get another 11 apples then u have 12 apples.
hence. 1 + 11 = 12.
now. if u have 11 apples and u lose 1 apple then u have 10 apples.
hence. 11 - 1 = 10.
