Polynomial :(
Please show work so I can understand these stupid problems.
Is this something I will ever use in real life?

basically factor the equation:

(2r -1)(r - 6)=0

then the equation above will equal 0 under the conditions that either (2r-1)=0 or (r-6)=0 or they both are 0.

so solve for the conditions above and get r = 1/2 or 6

You have to factor the equation.
So, you'll get:
(2r-1)(r-6)=0

After, you set each parenthetical section to 0 and solve for r.
So, 2r-1=0
and r=1/2

And, r-6=0
so r=6

And yes, you will indeed use this in your real life. It will be used in many majors like medical, research, engineer, and even architecture.

2r^2-13r+6=0
(2r - 1)(r - 6) = 0
(2r - 1) = 0
2r = 1
r = 1/2
(r - 6) = 0
r = 6
Summary: r = 1/2, 6
2008-12-03 6:21 pm
2r^2 - 13r + 6 = 0
2r^2 - r - 12r + 6 = 0
(2r^2 - r) - (12r - 6) = 0
r(2r - 1) - 6(2r - 1) = 0
(2r - 1)(r - 6) = 0

2r - 1 = 0
2r = 1
r = 1/2 (0.5)

r - 6 = 0
r = 6

∴ r = 1/2 (0.5) , 6
2008-12-03 5:46 pm
(2r - 1)(r - 6) = 0
r = 1/2 , r = 6
2008-12-03 3:55 pm
2r^2 - 13r + 6 = 0
>>Okay so you're going to make this into a factor okay.
(2r - 1)(r - 6) = 0
>>I factored this down knowing that (-6x2r + -1xr = 13r) :D
>>Now we have to solve for (r) I presume.
>>So break the factors up </3
(2r - 1) = 0 (r - 6) = 0
>>Then solve until you get ( r ) alone
2r = 1 r = 6
2r/2 = 1/2 Done!
r = 1/2
Done!
>>Tada, we just solved the problem :D

Your answer should be displayed as:
r = 1/2 , 6

equation equals

(2r - 1)(r - 6)....just by playing around with the numbers.

Set each to zero to get the two values of r.

For instance (2r - 1) = 0 gives r = 1/2

(r - 6) = 0 gives r = 6.

These two values of r represent where r crosses from positive
to negative or negative to positive on the y axis.

You can see this if you could graph this.

...

Also, you will only use this in more aggressive math classes like
calculus.

Taking these classes later in college will allow you to get into cool programs that will get you far in life.

Also, doing this math is causing your brain's neurons to synapse so that you actually become a faster and better thinker.

Just do it.
Practice makes perfect.

2r^2 -13r +6 =0
2r^2 -12r -r +6 =0
2r(r-6) -1(r-6) =0
(2r-1)(r-6)=0

either 2r-1=0 or r-6=0

(a)2r-1=0
r= 1/2

(b)r-6=0
r=6

Welcome!
