= 5(4/5)
= 20/5 or 4

= (5/5)(4/[5/5)
= 1 * (4/1)
= 4

5 x 4/5
= (5 x 4)/5
= 20/5
= 20 ÷ 5
= 4

5 x (4/5) = 1 x 4 = 4
OR

Pretend like the whole number is over one. and multiply 5x4=20over 5, then reduce=4.

Firstly write in this form 5x4/5. Now you can multiply 5 with the numerator i.e. 4. Then you will get 20 and then you can divide it by 5.
Alternatively,
You can cut 5 in the numerator and 5 in the denominator and then the resultant would be 4

1) 5*4 = 20

2) 20/5 = 4

so the result is 4

Just think of it at 5/1 * 4/5 and then multiply top to top and bottom to bottom to get 20/5 which reduces to 4

just multiply the numerator together.

5*4/5 = 20/5, simplying, = 4
