im pregnant! woo hoo! i think about 5weeks gone and i have an appointment with the midwife on tues?

At my first midwife appointment, they took down a lot of medical history/information. They weighed me, I did a urine sample (you pee on a little stick and it tells you whether there is too much protein or sugar in your urine), they explained the scope of their services, measured me to where my uterus was, and they scheduled an ultrasound and my second appointment. They will be able to tell approximately by the timing of your last menstrual cycle how far along you are if you can tell them, but not exactly until you get your ultrasound.

i had my first midwife appointment yesterday.. she gave me a few books and leaflets we chatted about my due date.. she will book you in for a scan.. talk about different blood tests you can have it last about 40 minutes..

I just had mine last week and as soon as I got in, they weighed me and made me pee in a cup. Then I did some blood tests and she went over medical history and my family history with me (ie. allergies, previous surgeries, family heart/diabetes/etc. history). Finally, she did a swab down there. I just had my pap test done in August, so she didn't need to do another one she said. And before I left, she told me to go back in a month's time.

she will give you an estimate based on the day of your last period, also you will have bloods possibly she will take your weight and height and you will fill in your notes (pregnancy notes...personal information)
You will get a few leaflets and possibly a date for your scan

She will ask you when your last period was to gauge "how far gone" you are. Not too much happens at a first appointment, you just get to know each other. CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy!

Yea, they can if they do an ultrasound, they'll take ur wt. & take it every appt. there after. you'll go to the office once a month then twice a month then every week till the baby is born. They'll take ur blood pressure, take a sample of ur urine, take a culture n' draw blood & mostly likely give you your prenatal pills.........good luck n' congrats 2u. @ 16 weeks or more they'll tell u the gender...............

Congratulations, it's just a check up though, I'm pretty sure. Soon enough you'll be having you're sex check-up. Were you can ask the doctor which sex/gender the baby will be.

Congrats!! You can find out how far along yourself, they just go by the first day of your last period, so just count the days from then. Your first appointment she'll weigh and measure you, take blood, make you pee in a cup, give you a pap, and probably quiz you on family history of health and complications. Good luck!
