Solve for y.

Multiply whole equation by -1

2x + y = 10

y = 2x + 10

Now that it's in y = mx + b form,

y intercept = 10

To solve the y intercept of this question there is a short cut.
So you know the standard form right?
Ax+By=C
well y intercept is C/B
and the x intercept is just C/A
and the way to find the slope is -A/B

HOPE THIS INFORMATION IS HELPFUL!

-2x - y = -10
-y = -10 + 2x
-y = 2x - 10
y = (2x - 10)/-1
y = -2x + 10

Let x = 0.
y = -2x + 10
y = -2(0) + 10
y = 0 + 10
y = 10

∴ the y intercept is 10.

Where does the function (line) cross the y axis
Or, what is y when x is zero.
......10

Answer is at the point (0,10)

The y-intercept occurs when x=0;
-2*0 - y = -10
-y = -10
x = 0, y = 10

-2x - y = -10
-2x + 10 = y
y = -2x + 10
Y-intercept = 10
