Remember that loga(b)=x can be rewritten as a^x=b, so going to your problem we have 64^(1/3)=4. 64 is the a value, 1/3 is the x value, and 4 is the b value. Therefore, we can put this into logarithmic form with the equation log64(4)=1/3.

64^(1/3) = 4
(1/3) log 64 = log 4

³√64 = 4
64 = 4^3
log_4(64) = 3

log(64) /3=log 4
This is true in any base.
example: in base e, the natural logs, ln64=4.15888, ln4=1.386
in base 10, log 64 = 1.8062, log 4 =.60206

log64(base4)=1/3.

log of 64 base 4 = 3
in other words 4 to the power of what will give me 64? 3
