how to open .001 file extension?

I downloaded some files on rapidshare. They're avi files and they're named like this: filename.avi.001, filename.avi.002, etc. Anyway, they won't play in quick time because the program doesn't understand the files.

Can someone tell me how to fix this in a simple way that doesn't involve too much poking around and makes sense. I'm not totally computer iliterate but I just hate doing this sort of thing.

更新1:

It's not a zip file and deleting the extension and playing it in VLC doesn't work either.

update: 7zip doesn't work either.

extract the files with Winrar or 7zip

after you will have all film with filename .avi.001 .............

Try 7zip (download from http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z457.msi ), and open the the filename.avi.001 with it. It may not be a zip file, but another compression file type, most likely rar. 7zip should be able to handle most filetypes, so this shouldn't be a problem.

You need to download all the parts of the file and then copy them like
copy filename.avi.001+filename.avi.002 filename.avi

Delete the extension. So:

filename.avi.001

becomes:

filename.avi

Also, Quicktime has some bugs when it tries to open .avi files. I suggest you use VLC.
