Router Help Please!!!!!!?

My router will restart every hour or so when I'm online playing Xbox 360 or just browsing the internet. Its not that big of a deal when Im on the internet browsing, but when I'm online playing Gears 2 or Left 4 Dead it will kick me out of the game with my friends and send me back to the dashboard. All I have to do is sign back in and its good. Just annoying really. It shuts off for literally only about 20 seconds then boots back up. Help would be greatly appreciated!

This isn't normal....so don't let yourself get used to it.

You should find the company name on the router...
search them online and message them.

Tell them you're very disappointed....try to sound intelligent...and hey ...never know... they might just send you a free one.
(You might be entitled to a replacement if there's a manufactures warranty anyways)

2nd...
if they insist it's not their issue (give them the benefit of the doubt...but keep their number handy...since you will prob. end up having to call them back)

Call your internet provider. They might be more 'neutral' , and be able to give you some information about other users who might have called about the same problem...with the same router...

This then would give you ammunition to call back the router company.

Good luck.

Most of the times I've heard this occur is due to outdated router drivers or older firmware. You should try to download newest drivers and firmware for your router. Give it a good reset. If your router is your primary router on your network then disable DHCP is not a good idea. When the kickback occurs try typing IPCONFIG /RELEASE then IPCONFIG /RENEW at Start/Run. If you are still having trouble then it may be that router configuration information for Windows Network and the configuration utitlity that came with your router cd may be conflict (ie Windows will attempt to connect to router but has wrong setting, then the configuration utility that came with the router reconnects again).. if that's the case then uninstall the router completely including all the drivers from Device Manager.. and use Add/Remove to make sure the router's configuration utility is uninstalled as well. Reinstall the router normally and make sure only Windows or the routers configuration utitlity is controlling the connection.

Also make sure your router is not overheat. I used to have the same problem with my old router during summer, which worked fine during winters. :S

turn off dhcp -> configure for static IP adresses
Look up your router on google, and look for a tutorial
This should stop restarts
