The chop used in a cheque is quite commonly used for other formal documents. So, you should use it in getting communication services. With the chop, it means you are signing the documents on behalf of the company whether it is a limited company, partnership or a sole proprietorship.
The clear distinction in different types of firms or company means whether the company is of a legal person in nature. In limited company, it is a legal person. Any director signing any documents with the company chop means he is signing on it on behalf of a legal person, the limited company. Normally, no personal liability is expected in it. However, any persons signing a document with the company chop of a partnership or a sole proprietor still means on behalf of the firm. But, the sole proprietor or each of the partners are all solely or jointly liable for the firm's activities.
So, check if the firm/company is a limited company or not with liabilities borne by the singer stated as above.
