Why does my screen go black when I exit a game that plays in full screen on my pc?

Well, when ever I play a game in full screen e.g Empire Earth 2 or The sims 2 it is fine but when I exit it, the screen is black and only the mouse shows. It doesn't happen on Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 or Stronghold 2. Is it because explorer.exe isn't running any more or a windows error? My pc specs are:

Video Card: • ALL-IN-WONDER 9700 SERIES
• Video RAM: 128 MB
Processor
• AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+
• x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0

RAM:

2 x 256mb

Sound:
• NVIDIA R nForce TM Audio

If need anything else, just say.

Yes I do have updated direct x and no it's not because the game is scratched. I take care of mine and it happens to brand new games.

Also, my pc is very very fast even though I have very low RAM. I also don't have alot of memory left but I am sorting that out fine at the moment. It never used to happen btw.

I don't think some of them understand what I said. I can't do anything except move the mouse. I am wondering could it be that explorer.exe isn't running?

first you go on the center of the video screen then right click and press setting. Then on the lower most left there's a computer screen icon- click on it. Then uncheck the enable hardware accleration box. That should do it.

you're playing with VERY LOW amount of RAM! Next is that those game are most likely adjusting the dispaly settings due to the game software or the pc limitations. If you explore the cd you may find a read me file that'll explain the games configuration settings ect.

Do you have all the latest drivers and direct x installed on your machine?

If you do CRTL ALT DEL ( Task Manager ) is the game still running?

same here , but when i exit , the screen is black and after couple of seconds it shows my desktop..no big deal

your game has a problem or maybe its scratched it happens to me allot
but i think you shall not play in again it can cause bad damage to your PC
