If you are talking about the last stage of the four stages in a project, it should be the T&C and handover stages.
The role of main contractor shall arrange the performance tests or the site acceptance tests for each suppliers / sub-contractors. Collect the test results and ask each of them to prepare the O&M manual, as-built drawings and as-built information. Start to write the test strips for commissioning and integral performance vertification tests. Commissioning means the best setting of the integral systems and then the integral performance vertification test to test the overall systems can implement and communicated without problems. Then record all the parameters, record the startup procedures, recovery procedures ... etc. The clients / Project Manager will issue a defects list for the Main Contractor rectification. After all, O&M with all test records are ready, defects fixed. Completion certificate will be issued to the Main Contractor and starts the Defect Liability Period.
In fact, the role of Main Contractor in all stages are the coordinator and single point of contact with PM / Clients, responsible to complete the contract, bill the client and make payment to all suppliers and sub-contractors.
