a)mu=mv+MV,1/2mu^2=1/2mv^2+1/2MV^2b)mu=mv+MV
v=(mu-MV)m
v=u-MV/m
K.Eloss to A=1/2mu^2-1/2mv^2
=1/2mu^2-1/2m(u-MV/m)^2

Actually,the question didn't ask you for only m and M.As a result,the answer contain m and M is ok.
