”Put yourself into others' shoes”???

Hi,
Put yourself into others' shoes= to try to think about yourself being in others' situations.
Here is a good example for you.
Son: I hate beggars. I just shouted at one, mom.
Mom: Oh no! Please don't do that again!
Try to put yourself into his shoes. What if you were a beggar,
would you like to be shouted at just because you were a bum?
