Debonded areas of render may be present right from the time of construction. Initially they may be insignificant, but cyclic expansion and contraction of the render may cause the debonded areas to increase in size. When they increase in size to an area greater than about 200mm x 200mm they have the potential to fall from the building at any time without any prior warning. As a result many buildings in Asia have large areas of debonded render which are potentially very dangerous.
Such areas can be readily detected using hammer tapping or infra-red thermography, but is is more important to ensure that they do not occur in the first instance. Many of the problems can be avoided at the time of construction if simple precautions are taken.
bonded=
A substance or agent that causes two or more objects or parts to cohere.
debonded=
Compression failure mechanism of structures.
Your short paragraph says: When they built it, the failure mechanism of the structures of the buildings were there. Workers or engineers just overlooked them as there were kind of insignificant. As time goes by,contraction of the render and
cyclic expansion may make those areas become LARGER debonded areas.
Note:
Contraction of the render ( may be caused by the release of substances during an allergic reaction. ... which combines with the foreign substances so as to render them )
Hope it helps.
