Welcome speech for the Basketball Tournament

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the Hong Kong Amateur Sports Association, I would like to welcome all honorable guests and sportsmen from different countries to come to Hong Kong to participate in the First International Basketball Tournament which will be held on October 24th and 25th.

The objective of this international tournament is to enhance the sports techniques of all participants and to promote a better understanding and improve friendship between all teams from different countries.
I personally believe that a healthy sportsmanship will make our world more united and more prosperous.

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone good health and happiness, and wish our tournament to be a successful one !

BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP--WELCOMING SPEECH

各位先生、各位女士﹕
Ladies and gentlemen,

本人是香港業餘運動協會會長，在此歡迎和感謝各位來賓及運動員，從不同的國度前來參加2008年10月24日至25日在香港舉辦的第一屆國際籃球錦標賽。
As the President of Hong Kong Amateur Sports Association, I welcome and thank you all our guests and athletes from different countries, for coming to participate in the First International Basketball Championship held in Hong Kong
from October 24th to October 25th , 2008.

本屆國際比賽的目的於提昇運動技能，並促進各隊之間的了解和友誼。
The aim of this international competition is to enhance techniques and skills in the sport, and to promote understanding and friendship among the participating teams.

本人全然相信，良好的運動精神能使世界更合作、更繁榮。
I totally believe that good sportsmanship can make the world more cooperative and more prosperous.

敬祝各位健康、快樂。祝大會成功。

Two days are too short for an international basketball competition. It is more reasonable to run the whole event in one to two weeks.

I am a member of the Hong Kong Amateur Sports Association, here to welcome and thank all the athletes and guests from different countries come to the 2008 24-25 October in Hong Kong held the first international basketball tournament.
The purpose of this international competition in the campaign to upgrade skills and to promote understanding between the team and friendship. I totally believe that good sportsmanship make the world more cooperation and more prosperous.
